{"id":22,"date":"2026-02-04T15:54:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T15:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/online-news.uk\/?p=22"},"modified":"2026-02-04T15:54:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T15:54:00","slug":"summer-camp-leader-admits-drugging-wife-while-he-sexually-assaulted-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/online-news.uk\/index.php\/2026\/02\/04\/summer-camp-leader-admits-drugging-wife-while-he-sexually-assaulted-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer camp leader admits drugging wife while he sexually assaulted children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A summer camp leader who drugged children with poisoned sweets before sexually assaulting them has admitted to also drugging his wife so she would not wake while the abuse took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jon Ruben, a former vet, had previously admitted sexually assaulting two boys at a summer camp in&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/leicestershire-6587\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leicestershire<\/a><\/strong>, and child cruelty towards six other victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruben, who sobbed in the dock at Leicester Crown Court during his plea hearing on Wednesday, admitted administering a poison or noxious substance, Temazapam, to Susan Ruben between July 26 and 29 last year, so she would not wake up while he sexually assaulted the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 76-year-old defendant, who ran a holiday camp for at least 27 years, said &#8220;I&#8217;m so sorry&#8221; after entering his guilty plea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruben, who sat in the dock wearing a blue shirt and beige trousers, laced sweets with tranquillising drugs and attacked two children after playing &#8220;a sweet game&#8221; with the youngsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In November, he&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/summer-camp-leader-pleads-guilty-to-drugging-and-sexually-assaulting-two-boys-13470263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pleaded guilty to sexual assault<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;of a child under 13, assault of a child under 13 by penetration, eight counts of child cruelty, three counts of making indecent images of children and four drugs charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prosecutor Mary Prior KC told the court on Wednesday that Ruben had asked police for a voluntary interview when he admitted to drugging his wife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A summer camp leader who drugged children with poisoned sweets before sexually assaulting them has admitted to also drugging his wife so she would not wake while the abuse took place.
